Maria Berezovska – mezzo soprano

Born in Ukraine (Lviv), mezzo-soprano Maria Berezovska studied at the Odessa State Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music, at the Accademia d’Arte Lirica (Ancona, Italy) and at the Odessa National Music Academy named after A. V. Nezhdanova where she completed her Master of Music.

She is Laureate of the International Singing Competition ‘Anatoliy Solovyanenko’ in Ukraine; Diplomat of vocal competition in Toulouse, France; Finalist of the vocal competition in Vercelli, Italy. She takes part in festival performances in Crete (Greece), under the direction of Gunnar Stromsholm; and works as soloist at the Odessa National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
Since 2015 Maria Berezovska is the leading mezzo-soprano and principal singer at the Kyiv National Opera of Ukraine. She’s an invited soloist at other theaters of Ukraine, and appears often at the Solomiya Krushelnytska Opera Festival in Lviv National Opera of Ukraine.

In March 2019 Berezovska made her debut as Ortrud in the premiere of Lohengrin at the Lviv National Opera of Ukraine, conductor – Myron Yusypovych (Ukraine); producer – Michael Sturm (Germany); director – Mathias Engelmann (Austria). In February 2018 she toured with Polish National Opera Warsaw in Aida as Amneris at the Dubai Opera House, conductor – Patrick Fournillier (France).

Her repertoire roles include: Amneris (AIDA), Azucena (IL TROVATORE), Eboli (DON CARLO), Fenena (NABUCCO), Ulrika (UN BALLO IN MASCHERA), Maddalena (RIGOLETTO), Ortrud (LOHENGRIN), Suzuki (MADAMA BUTTERFLY), La Ciesca (GIANNI SCHICCHI), Mother Lucia (CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA), Countess, Paulina (QUEEN OF SPADES), Laura (IOLANTA), Olga, Filippyevna (EUGENE ONEGIN), Lyubasha (THE TSAR’S BRIDE), Marina Mniszech, Shinkarka (BORIS GODUNOV).

In solo concert engagements mezzo Berezovska performs: Verdi «Requiem», Mozart «Requiem», Mahler «Kindertotenlieder», «Symphony No2», Handel «Messiah», Berlioz «Les nuits d’été», Beethoven «Symphony No9», Pergolesi «Stabat Mater», Bach «Magnificat», «St. John Passion», «Matthew Passion», Brahms «Alto Rhapsody», Rachmaninoff «All-Night Vigil».
The mezzo’s concert appearances include performances in United Arab Emirates, Poland, Austria, Italy, France, United Kingdom, United States of America, Greece, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine.

Fluency in languages: English, Italian, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.
