We are happy to introduce soprano Deirdre Lobo-D’Cunha, a fabulous new artist on our roster who is especially suited for, and experienced in, the Oratorio repertoire.
She is able to sing, for example, the “Pie Jesu” from the Fauré Requiem with that required lightness and then turn around and sing “Tu che di gel sei cinta” from Turandot with that spinto quality and drama.
Most of her performances in the last three years, have been in the oratorio genre with good regional orchestras. For your review, we enclose the Quai respexit from the Bach Magnificat; and the Pie Jesu from the Faure Requiem. Each sample shows singing of high artistic merit, a warm and beautifully produced soprano voice, with an easy upper extension.
Deirdre Lobo is a native of India, and grew up there, but did most of her musical studies in the Philippines and the United States. She has performed as soloist in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as in India, and the Philippines. She resides in Daly City, California, and is a US citizen.
She has studied with Phyllis Bryn-Julson at Peabody and with Marilyn Zschau, dramatic soprano in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In March 2010, she was engaged by two separate choruses/orchestras as soloist for the Beethoven Mass in C Major: Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, David Ramadanoff (conductor), and Viva la Musica Chorus and Orchestra, Shulamit Hoffmann (conductor).
In Oct 2009, she did a concert tour of INDIA, and is now scheduled to perform as soloist for the Mozart Requiem, in Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC at the church of St. Simon and St. Juda (March 12, 2011), where the Prague Symphony often performs, with an additional performance in Dresden, GERMANY at the Church of St. Lukas (March 15, 2011).
